(v. lat.: ''variare'' verändern) versteht man die spontane oder gewollte Abänderung von Informationsfolgen oder Eigenschaften. Er bezeichnet im Besonderen # In der Musik .html">Komposition .html"> (Thema) nacheinander durch vielfältige melodische, harmonische und rhythmische Abwandlungen führt.
