Der Leon hebt sich durch Sportlichkeit und günstige Preise von seinen Konkurrenten ab. Viele Teile des Leon stammen von seinen "Brüdern" VW Golf .html"> (Audi A3); vor allem die Motorenpalette des Leon hat sich bereits in anderen Modellen des VW Konzerns bewährt.
