Agglomeration

ist ein städtischer Ballungsraum, der nach einer Definition der UNO | (Vereinte Nationen|UNO) von 1998 eine Kernstadt sowie einen suburbanen Rand oder zumindest dicht besiedeltes Gebiet umfasst, das außerhalb der Stadtgrenzen liegt, aber an sie angrenzt. Eine einzelne solche Agglomeration kann aus mehreren Städten mit ihren jeweiligen Vorstadtgürteln bestehen.
